Congregation Councils & Treasurers

Information for Congregation Councils and Treasurers

Congregations are centers for mission where people of faith celebrate, learn, and connect with one another and others around the world through service and weekly worship.

The Congregation Council is an elected body of the congregation which has oversight of the life of the congregation, including its worship life, to the end that everything is done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the ELCA.

Council leaders will find helpful resources here. More information is also available on the NC Synod's Church Vitality page.

2023 Council Zoom Meetings

Council presidents are invited to join Bishop Tim & Assistant to the Bishop, Pastor Alfredo Oviedo, for conversation, prayer, and sharing.

Monthly email updates and Zoom links are sent to council presidents before each meeting. Use the link above to share your council president's contact information.

Recordings of meetings are shared in the tabs below.

Core Values Devotionals for Councils

Christ-Centered

The living Word, Jesus the Christ, is the very center of all we do. In Jesus Christ, we experience God’s grace and are set free to be God’s beloved in this world.

Generosity

There is enough; there is more than enough. We will trust God’s provision for tomorrow. With gratitude for what God first gives us, we live and give generously today.

Relationship

Just as we belong to one body in Christ, we belong to each other. Inspired by the Gospel, we will choose to live and work together for the sake of the world.
Relationship Devotional Handout

Reconciliation

God’s deep desire is to reconcile all relationships—with each other and creation. We will actively strive to experience the fullness of God through radical welcome, diversity, justice, compassion, peacemaking, advocacy, and healing.
