The 2022 NC Synod Council recently gathered, September 8-10, 2022, in retreat at Lutheridge to welcome newly-elected members. While the regular meeting of the council began Friday afternoon, the added time allowed for group-building, onboarding, and extended conversation about recent synod council decisions. A Friday evening field trip was also on the schedule; all were treated to a gracious meal and an eye-opening tour of Living Waters, Cherokee. Learning about the ministry made possible by this busy mission congregation was a highlight of their time together.
Just prior to the synod council meeting, the synod staff gathered, also at Lutheridge, for their long-overdue staff retreat. Unable to gather together due to the COVID-19 risk in 2020 and 2021, this year’s event was made possible thanks to vaccines and boosters. The staff time was led by Pastor Jeff Erbskorn (St. Paul, Aiken, SC) who shared Enneagram insights and guided helpful workplace conversation. Fun activities included a wedding shower (Sarah & Evin!) and axe throwing.
Both retreats were made even better thanks to the beautiful grounds, lodgings, and yummy food provided by Lutheridge, a beloved synod conference center.
