NC Synod God’s Work. Our Hands.

Sardis, Hickory

On Sunday Sept. 11, congregations all across the NC Synod joined congregations Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday. This designated day gives us an opportunity to celebrate who we are as a church—one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. This year, congregations helped provide meals, clean water, clothing, and more! Read these stories to see the many ways congregations across the synod are serving and loving their neighbors.

Since the ELCA was formed 35 years ago, the church has been deeply rooted in faith and in sharing its passion for making positive changes in the world. Service offers this church an opportunity to explore one of the most basic Lutheran convictions: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.
