Since 2014, “the cookie church,” First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington, has been delivering a smile and a treat to first responders on God’s work. Our hands Sunday. In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 11, 2022 families gathered again to deliver 3,600 homemade cookies for each fireman, policeman, EMT, and 911 call center employee in Lexington, NC. During the pandemic years, prepacked snacks and Gatorade were provided in place of the homemade goodies. This year our congregation was excited to once again bake the treats our first responders so enjoy. We look forward to this project each year. The project is a renewed commitment to service in our community and support of our local heroes.
