Community in Christ Sorts for Others

People of all ages had a great time serving together as they prayed that the items might meet immediate and future needs in their community.

Members of all ages of Community in Christ Lutheran Church (CIC), Cornelius, joined together to collect, sort, and pack over 90 boxes of gently used and new clothing items and shoes, as well as several large bags of bedding and towels to support the mission of Lydia’s Loft, an ecumenical service ministry located in neighboring Huntersville that allows members of the community who are in need to “shop” for clothing and linen needs free of charge.

The clothing items and shoes were donated by members of the congregation throughout the month of August. On August 28, CIC members were each given a surprise $10 at the end of worship to purchase new socks, underwear, towels, and sheets to help Lydia’s Loft receive more items that are less frequently donated. On September 11, ELCA’s God’s work. Our hands. Sunday, an estimated 60+ CIC members worked to sort and pack like items together! People of all ages came together and had a great time serving together as we prayed that the items might meet immediate and future needs in our community while the organization of all the items might help the volunteer-run service organization serve with ease!
