Event Description

Join the coordinators of LDR Carolinas Ray & Ruth Ann Sipe on a service trip to New Bern to work in the continuing recovery following Hurricane Florence in 2018. If you have ever wanted to volunteer rebuilding after a disaster but did not want to go alone or travel very far, this trip is for you!

We will be working with Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance on projects. Many of these have been funded by a grant* from Lutheran Disaster Response through Lutheran Services Carolinas, and we will be using the North Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission tool truck & trailer! Our housing will be at the Volunteer Village (at Neuse Forest Presbyterian Church).

Our work dates will be Monday, February 26 through Friday, March 1. You are invited to arrive on Saturday, February 24 to see the sights in New Bern and join us for worship at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church on Sunday morning. We are looking for 20 or more adults with all kinds of skills (including cooking, cleaning, and clerical, as well as construction).

You will need to pay a $50 deposit per person and provide your own transportation. Grant funding will help pay for food and housing for volunteers during the week. Commuters who do not need housing are welcome with no deposit required, but registration is still needed. Projects will be assigned to us based on the skills of the volunteers, so it is important to sign up well in advance. For more information, email ray@ldrcarolinas.org or ruthann@ldrcarolinas.org.

Registration is due by February 1.
