My first day as a Churchwide Assembly voting member. Wow, what a day. From COVID protocol checks at registration to sharing stories and meals with colleagues and seeing old friends and meeting new ones, today was a full day.

As I walked into the hall where we will go about the business of our church I was very humbled to see this expansive room filled with God’s people gathered together.

My prayers for the week are that our church digs in and works to make our polity equal and welcoming for all. That we work to ensure that we are not just preserving an institution for its own sake. And, that we always remember—God is with us.
