Synod Gathering 2022 Wrap-Up

Synod Gathering was sweet nurture for our souls.

June 13, 2022 |

Pastor Louise Hilbert, Dr. Ryan Luhrs, Pastor Grace Gravelle, Pastor Kirsten Wee, and Pastor Jasmine Tesdahl are *gathering* at the 2022 Synod Gathering. What joy!

The 2022 NC Synod Gathering—the first of its kind—is a wrap!

Initially planned for May 2020, but of course, postponed due to the pandemic, the Gathering finally happened! Except for precautionary pandemic-type restrictions, the event was almost identical to the one initially planned. Rostered ministers—pastors and deacons—and lay people from all across the synod came together for three days at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory for worshiping, learning, and visiting. As Bishop Tim said, it was “sweet nurture for our souls.” There was a great deal of smiling happening, even though those smiles were often hidden by masks.

If you were unable to attend, you can learn more about what happened by reading the Synod e-News, June 7, 2022: Synod Gathering Recap Issue, or you can find all of the Synod Gathering News stories on the synod’s website. And, you can watch all of the worship service recordings as well as the ELCA Churchwide Report, the Report from Bishop Tim Smith, and Celebrations & Anniversaries on the synod’s YouTube Synod Gathering playlist.

Most of all, mark your calendar; you won’t want to miss Synod Gathering 2024!
