This wonderful group of people from Christus Victor, Durham, all came together on Sunday, September 8, to paint park benches around their community. They also stained the picnic table at Emerald Pond. The weather couldn’t have been better for their work! They had more volunteers than expected and put them to work doing the clean-up and painting of an additional bench. In total, there were seven benches painted green and another one that was done a few years ago that got a touch-up.
We have two painted benches at the dock on the lake, one in the playground area, three benches at the Lotus Pond Clermont end of the lake, and one bench at Emerald Pond. The wooden picnic table at Emerald Pond was stained as well. The many hands of the volunteers got the job done in a few hours. It was a pleasure to have this cheerful group help beautify Parkwood again. The helpful volunteers from Christus Victor Lutheran Church bear out the truth in the saying, “Many hands make light work” from the biblical story of Nehemiah. Our community is fortunate to have such a group among our midst. Thank you so much for lending your hands for a day.
