On-going Response

LDR Carolinas is at work responding to the flooding caused by Debby, both along the coast—and in Greensboro!  Flood waters are slowly receding in many areas; LDR Carolinas continues to work in partnership with other organizations to assist local residents’ recovery.

Thanks to volunteers who have already helped respond to the localized flooding in Greensboro. LDR Carolinas has worked with Guilford County Emergency Management to assist residents with emergency housing and connect them with partners to begin repair work.

Crisis Cleanup

Crisis Cleanup has been activated across the Carolinas. If you need assistance with tarping, or tree and debris removal, visit www.CrisisCleanup.org.

Volunteers are needed both to help onsite and with intake (which you can do on your computer at home).  If you want to help, please contact either Ray or Ruth Ann Sipe for more information.

God’s work. Our hands.—Clean Up Kits & Comfort Kits

If you are still looking for a project for God’s work. Our hands. Day, we suggest assembling Cleanup Kits or Children’s Comfort Kits. The Clean Up Kits are a 5-gallon bucket with a lid filled with cleaning supplies to be used after a storm or flood. Children’s Comfort Kits include several items packed in plastic shoeboxes.

Here’s the printable list of the items to pack in each kit.

These NC congregations have already volunteered to be collection points for the kits. When you are ready to drop off your assembled kits, contact one of these congregations to arrange an appropriate drop-off time.

  • Amazing Grace, Waxhaw
  • Coble’s, Julian
  • Epiphany, Winston-Salem
  • Lutheran Chapel, China Grove
  • Mt. Hebron, Hildebran
  • St. Luke, Mt. Ulla
  • Trinity, Vale

More collection points are still needed in the mountains and the eastern part of the state. If you can help, email Ruth Ann.
