The congregation of Holy Trinity, Hickory, participated in “God’s Work. Our Hands.” by serving the community through a variety of opportunities the week of September 10.
Projects included:
- The Corner Table, Newton, where they feed the needs of the hungry in the area. Volunteers assisted in prepping, serving, and cleaning to accommodate meals for those with food insecurities
- Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministries, Newton provides a hand up for those in crisis in our community. Volunteers aided in organizing and assisting with the Food Bank operations of the agency.
- The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, Hickory provides an accepting and safe place for young people in our county. Congregation members donated an array of snacks to be used to offset expenses at the Boys & Girls Club.
- Youth Center at Holy Trinity, Hickory was refreshed for a new season of youth ministry. Volunteers supported the cleaning and organizing of the space to better serve teens.
- Hickory Soup Kitchen, Hickory, is changing lives one plate at a time by serving an average of 225 meals daily. Volunteers helped with prepping, serving, and cleaning to accommodate meals for those without consistent access to food.
- Greeting Cards at Holy Trinity, Hickory. Volunteers enjoyed designing a variety of greeting cards to be shared with nursing home residents, shut-ins, etc.
More than eighty volunteers participated in “God’s Work. Our Hands.” this year. The grand finale of the week-long efforts was a concert by the congregation’s NewSong Praise Band at Holy Trinity. The praise and worship event included a variety of contemporary and gospel songs related to serving others. The concert concluded with, “This Little Light of Mine,” a joyful song of hope reminding each of us that we can be a light for others.
