Synod means walking together. For the last eight years, I have been walking with congregations and leaders as the NC Synod Director of Finance and Administration. It has been eight of the best years of my professional and personal life. I have had the opportunity to welcome two children into the world, develop relationships with both lay and rostered leaders, and hopefully positively impact congregations across the synod.
As the Scripture says, “For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.” Sadly, my season at the synod office is ending on Friday, August 2. I was presented with and have taken a new job opportunity as the Executive Director of First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. It’s hard to leave a position and people I enjoy so much, and yet, I know this is where God is leading me and our family.
As I transition out of the synod office, I want to tell everyone thank you. Bishop Tim took a chance on me in this role and I am forever grateful. I especially want to give thanks to the synod council leadership with whom I have worked very closely. I learned so much from so many of you that it would take days to thank everyone personally. You all have had an impact on my development both professionally and personally.
I am sure I will see you at some synod events. I will continue to pray for the synod and hope you will pray for my family and me as we start a new season.
Blessings,
Michael DeNise
