The NC Synod invites our youngest creatives to help shape the look of the 2026 Synod Gathering! Inspired by the theme “Come and See, Go and Tell,” we’re inviting children to share how they witness and wonder at God’s good news. Open to artists 12 and under from NC Synod congregations.
As part of our Children in Ministry “And God Says It Is Good” initiative, supported by a grant from the Lilly Foundation Inc., we are highlighting the gifts and perspectives of children across our synod. Their creativity reminds us of God’s delight in play, imagination, and curiosity—and we want those gifts front and center at Synod Gathering.
Who can submit?
Children 12 years old and under connected to NC Synod congregations are eligible to submit art.
What is the theme?
Artwork inspired by the theme “Come and See, Go and Tell.” Encourage your little artists to explore:
- What does it mean to encounter Jesus?
- How do we share God’s love in our communities?
- What does “good news” look like through a child’s eyes?
- Scriptural references John 1:35-46 and Matthew 28:16-20
What type of art?
All mediums are welcome: drawing, painting, collage, sculpture (photographed), digital art, and more.
What do selected artists receive?
- A $65 honorarium
- Their artwork featured on stage, in Synod Gathering slides, in the printed Synod Gathering bulletin, and in possible future synod publications!
- Recognition as part of our synod’s celebration of children’s ministry!
Let Your Little Artists Shine! We can’t wait to see the beauty, joy, and imagination your children bring to this year’s theme. Tell the young artists in your congregation to get creative, dream big, and share the good news through their art.
How do I submit my child’s art?
Please email your submissions to covercash@nclutheran.org by March 2, 2026. Selected artists will be notified.
