Immigration & Refugee Ministry Grants Available

July 6, 2026 |

North Carolina Synod congregations are invited to apply for $500–$1,000 mini-grants to support immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in their communities. Made possible through a $5,000 Peeler/Casey Grant awarded to the NC Synod Immigration & Refugee Ministry Team, these grants will be able to help address the immediate and immense needs of local immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in NC.

Please send your congregation’s application for grant funds to David Charters and include the following information:

  1. Name of congregation
  2. Contact info for the lead person
  3. Describe the advocacy and support efforts being proposed by your congregation. (Possible examples include volunteering at the El Refugio hospitality house in Lumpkin, GA; supporting resettled refugees; or supporting immigrant or asylum-seeking families.)
  4. Identify the amount of the grant being requested, from $500 to $1,000

Please note that all applications will be reviewed by the NC Synod Immigration & Refugee Ministry Team, as well as the NC Synod staff liaison to the team. This grant money will be disbursed on a first-come, first-served basis.
