The Church of the Savior in Newland continued its annual quilting ministry again in the summer of 2024. Between four and six faithful quilters met weekly at the church to stitch their beautiful creations. This year they were proud to create eighty-two quilts! Church member Joyce Kramp led the group and was assisted by member, Ann Appleton.

The quilts, which were in all colors and with a variety of designs, were blessed on October 27, and are being distributed to the needy in Avery County by local agencies. The project was especially meaningful this year, as Hurricane Helene hurt so many of our neighbors.

Our quilters also blessed us with a new banner for our church to be displayed during the Pentecost season. Inscribed with “Come Holy Spirit,” the banner reflects our mountains and streams. It was designed by Ann Appleton and stitched by Joyce Kramp. We are proud to see it hanging in the church.

The Church of the Savior is a Lutheran and Episcopal Fellowship located in Newland, NC.
