
St. Andrew’s, Hickory, has fun working hard
For St. Andrew’s, Hickory, “God’s work. Our hands.” Day of Service on September 8 was a day of hard work and lots of fun and fellowship. St. Andrew’s members and guests took a lot of pride in the help that we could give to people and agencies in our community. We are very pleased to announce the tremendous success we had:
- assembled: 104 School Kits for Lutheran World Relief
- assembled: 80+ Welcome Bags for LR university students
- assembled: 132 Thank You Bags for city emergency personnel: fire, police, EMTs
- assembled: 100 Emergency Kits for homeless community
- purchased: 25 3-person tents for homeless community
- purchased: 20 sleeping bags for homeless community
- made: 16 Fleece Tied Blankets for homeless community
- collected: 22 Sets of pajamas and underwear for male and female teenagers in foster care
- collected: 25 undergarments, 30 journals and adult coloring books, and toiletries for women in counseling at Safe Harbor
- baked: 350 brownies for Soup Kitchen
- created: 100+ greeting cards created for birthdays, sickness, thinking-of-you to send to many people, including foster children
- made: 25 yarn balls for cats at the Humane Society
- collected: 200+ lbs. of food for snack packs for Cooperative Christian Ministry
