Fall Convocation 2024 has been canceled.

After faithful discussion with Novusway, and keeping track of the devastation in Western NC, we have made the heavy decision to cancel this year's Fall Convocation. Currently, the devastation in the Asheville/Arden area makes travel dangerous. But in God’s grace, though Lutheridge is facing a good deal of damage, they will also be using the space they have to host the emergency responders who are coming in to help with the restoration of the area. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding moving forward in this stressful time.

All registered participants were sent an email with important information which needs a response by Thursday, October 10. Please reach out to Lexi Barnhill if you were registered but did not receive an email.

Calm in the Chaos (1000 x 563 px)

While Fall Convo is canceled, our journey of service at this time is just beginning. Here is what you can do next:

Await Volunteer Opportunities

This may include Flood Bucket packing parties and a clean-up day at Lutheridge. As needs are constantly changing during this time, we will likely not know what volunteer opportunities are available at Lutheridge for a few weeks.

Take a Sabbath

Use the time you would have been at Fall Convocation to take Sabbath time or spend some time with the colleagues close to you. This time is always meant as an educational experience but is first and foremost a time of rejuvenation. So, please do something in that time that is rejuvenating for you.

Give

  • Donate to the NC Synod Disaster Fund, used to support NC congregations. Donate here and choose “Where Needed Most” then note: “Disaster Fund” in the memo field.
  • Donate to LDR Carolinas to support this work across both the North and South Carolina Synods. Donate here and choose “Lutheran Disaster Response.”
  • Donate to Lutheran Disaster Response which will support both short- and long-term recovery across the Southeast. Donate here.
