Cross and Crown, Matthews, works inside and out
Cross and Crown, Matthews, went to work in the community on Saturday, Sept 8, our “God’s work, Our hands” day. Two teams also did projects within our own building. Inside a team of Middle School students cleaned out and reorganized our library, and many hands tidied our kitchen and cleaned out cabinets and refrigerators.
In the Matthews community, we provided both a work team and a hand-prepared lunch for a Thrivent Habitat Build’s first day. A team also went out for a quarterly Roadside Cleanup on streets close to our church. Our Community Care group assembled care kits for the homeless who visit the Dilworth soup kitchen site at Ascension Lutheran in Charlotte. A volunteer team did landscaping work for our Matthews ministry partner COSKids (Christ Our Shepherd Ministries). And children decorated cards with their handprints and an encouraging message for Matthews community heroes. Baskets of cards were delivered by 3rd grader Morgan Deppe and her parents to Matthews firefighters and police officers.
God’s work and our hands are a winning combination, thanks be to God!
