Synod Assembly Worship

Our NC Synod Vision Statement begins, “Together we center our life in worship, prayer and Scripture,” therefore we start and end the 2008 Synod Assembly with worship.

A brief Service of Evening Prayer will close the Thursday evening session and a Service of Morning Prayer on Friday morning will begin the day. See the Agenda tab. Throughout the assembly there will be “Dwelling in the Scripture” moments.

You may want to invite others to one or all of the three major worship opportunities.

Thursday Opening Worship with Holy Communion – 1:00 p.m.
Preaching:

Friday Evening Worship: Holy Communion with Ordination/Commissioning – 7:30 p.m.
Preaching: The Rev. Dr. Paul Hill

Saturday Morning Closing Worship – at the end of business, approx. 10:30 a.m.
Preaching: The Rev. Dr. Leonard H. Bolick, Bishop of the NC Synod

Everyone is invited to worship! You need not be registered to take part in assembly worship. If you are planning to stay for other sessions or activities, please register as a visitor and receive a nametag at the INFORMATION window. Visitors are asked to sit in the visitors’ section, so that there is room for the voting members in the section set aside for them. Thank you for your cooperation. We hope to have extra worship bulletins available for visitors.

Worship Booklets are included in your assembly registration packet. It includes the order for all worship opportunities. Please keep these with you throughout the assembly but especially bring them to worship. They are expensive to print so there will be a limited number of extras for visitors.

Special Offerings

You may want to provide an opportunity for your congregation to take part in the special offerings at assembly. If you collect a special offering at your church, make the check payable to NC Synod ELCA and note the designation on the note line for World Hunger, Bishop’s Fund or Costa Rican Lutheran Church.

Designated envelopes will be included in your assembly packet and available on the resource tables in the back of the auditorium.

If you give cash and want your congregation or you personally to be credited with the gift, you must place it in an envelope and write in the congregation and city and your name and address.
