Our Calling The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) seeks in its faith
and life "to manifest the unity given to the people of God by living together in the love of Christ and by joining with other Christians in prayer and action to express and preserve the unity which the Spirit gives" (ELCA
Constitution 4.02.f.).
Our Mission and Objectives The Ecumenical Affairs committee coordinates the work of the synod in all ecumenical activities.
Educate The committee EDUCATES its members and N.C. Lutherans generally through its meetings, activities, and the forums it presents at the synod assembly. The committee participates in various events and conferences during the year including LARC, ELM, LARCUM and others.
Communicate The committee COMMUNICATES through the N.C. Synod website about ecumenical events, ideas, and possibilities to further its education mission.
Participate The committee PARTICIPATES in the ongoing ecumenical activities within North Carolina. As individual members through their actions make it possible, the committee takes part in regional and national ecumenical affairs. The committee is currently working with other denominations to improve understanding, communication, and joint worship opportunities.
